Hi, I’m Maria Scherlies, a graphic designer based in Berlin, specializing in branding, web design, illustration, and animation
My curiosity for design was first sparked by photography. At the age of 16, I started organizing my own photoshoots – initially with friends and acquaintances, and later with professional models.
However, my interest in other areas of design was so strong that I decided to study Communication Design at HTW Berlin – University of Applied Sciences. During my studies, I specialized in Corporate Design, Spatial Design, and Editorial Design. In 2020, I successfully graduated with a Bachelor of Arts.
In recent years, I have also placed a stronger focus on illustration and animation. I am particularly fascinated by frame-by-frame animation, as it allows me to bring ideas to life and visually tell stories.
I also enjoy designing in my free time, although usually in an analog and not always artistic way. I bake sourdough bread and love cooking, dabble in pottery (still quite amateurishly), or spend time gardening. Additionally, I have a deep love for nature and spend as much time as possible in or near water. Swimming and surfing are among my favorite outdoor activities – and I dream of one day living in a small house by the sea.
